For me, photography is like meditation - with my eye on the viewfinder, I become one with what is around me. I forget time and the here and now.

I am a lawyer and in my job I don't have the freedom for much creativity and artistic work. With the camera in hand, I find the complement to my profession.

I am not a fan of colourful pictures and sunsets. My landscape photos are minimalist and I value a good and simple composition. I like it when images remain unspecific. When place, light and weather combine to create a unique moment, I feel happiness and gratitude. I also feel happy and grateful when a model gives me his or her trust and allows me to photograph him or her. The people I photograph are natural, neither dressed up nor over-styled. The light comes only from the sky and there is no decoration. Everything stays simple. Everything is real and authentic.

In landscape photography, I only use post-processing to improve the composition. This mainly means adjusting the gradiation curves to make parts of the photo darker or lighter. Colour correction and colour matching are also an essential part of the post-processing for me. For portraits, I also remove distracting elements if they are not essential (e.g. small skin blemishes, reflections, etc.). Otherwise I leave the image as it is.

Whether it's landscape or portrait photography, I try to capture the soul and essence of the place or person in front of me with my camera.

I had a highly commended portfolio at the 2023 competiton The Scottish Landscape Photographer of the Year.
